Russia says it has wiped out key Islamic State targets in a bombing campaign around the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra.
The latest attack on ISIS positions saw a fortification, an underground bunker and anti-aircraft guns destroyed, according to a Russian defence ministry statement.
It is the latest in a series of targets Russia has claimed to have taken out since launching air strikes against the terror cell a few weeks ago.
Earlier this month Moscow claimed four of its warships slammed 26 rockets into Islamic State targets across Syria in a devastating salvo launched from the Caspian Sea, almost 1,000 miles away.
It is believed Russia is defying the West and co-ordinating a pro-Assad air, sea and ground offensive against not just Islamic State but also rebels opposed to the Syrian regime.
