Osun received N204bn, not N317bn in four years – Aregbesola

Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbsola, on Friday insisted that his administration got N204bn as federal allocation and internally generated revenue since the inception of his administration to the end of 2014.

The governor said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Friday through his media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, as a response to the claims of former Head of Service, Mr. Segun Akinwusi, on the revenues of the state.

Akinwusi, who contested the 2014 Osun State governorship election on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, had said in a speech delivered at the summit organised by the Osun Stakeholders that the state got N317bn in four years and not N204bn.

The statement read, “Elder Segun Akinwusi is inconsistent and that is highly nauseating considering the fact that he rose to become the Head of Service of Osun. In May, he raised a false alarm through his party, SDP, that Aregbesola should account for N846bn he had collected as allocation in the last four years.

“The same Akinwusi yesterday (Wednesday) said Aregbesola had collected N317bn in four years. Which one does he want Nigerians to believe?

“The facts that are verifiable state that Osun got from the federation account N177bn and when you add about N27bn as internally generated revenue in the same period to that, you get the N204bn.”

The governor also faulted Akinwusi for claiming that the state owed over N400bn.

He said the Debt Management Office recently  came out to put the total debts of all states at over N600bn, saying how then do they explain the allegation that Osun alone was indebted to the tune of N400bn.

The governor asked, “If Osun is just one of the 36 states of the federation, how then can the mischief makers justify Osun being responsible for N400bn out of this?”
