APC Will Spend N1.5trn Annually On Social Security

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it is set to spend N1.5 trillion in the first phase of its social security programme as soon as Nigerians vote them into power.

National publicity secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who made the revelation in Abuja, said the grant will be used to support people with disabilities with a monthly sum of N5000 and also to bridge the post NYSC allowance among others.

He made the assertion while fielding questions from citizens at the final series of the Political Parties & Citizens Debate organised by the Centre for Democratic Development(CDD) with support from the Open Society Initiative for West (OSIWA) with the theme: #ManifestoHour in Abuja.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed while assuring that the party was sympathetic to PWDs, said “We will adopt a human rights approach to their issues.”

He said the party in its manifesto was set to change Nigeria and address the three major issues including unemployment, corruption and insecurity contending against the development of the nation through five strategic focus which include Construction, ICT, Sports, Entertainment and Lucrative Industries.
