Niger 2015: I’m desperate, but not a Messiah – APC candidate

The All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate in Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, on Friday said that he is very desperate to win the gubernatorial race come 2015.
But Bello was quick to add he was not the people’s messiah.
The winner of the Niger State APC primaries, who is popularly called Abu Lolo, told newsmen at his campaign office in Minna during a press conference, that it was better he pursued a greater career because he is so desperate.
“I have dodged and dodged because I did not want to run all these while, but by 2015, I will run and by God’s grace I will become Governor.”
Speaking on why he dumped Governor Babangida Aliyu’s cabinet, Bello said: “I believe in God to succeed.
“I left Governor Aliyu’s cabinet after I served one year as a Commissioner for Commerce and Investment because I hate a situation where people work and complain without speaking their minds.
“I left the Governor Babangida Aliyu’s cabinet because of the bad system operated by the executive during my one year service to Niger State.
“One thing is clear: there is always a system in a particular place and if you are unable to cope or adjust, you have to leave.
“For me, it was honourable for me to leave the way I left.
“People lie to themselves when addressing to the electorates.
“I saw people work within the system and they began to complain.
“I noticed they still sit down because they want to collect their monthly stipends.
“But to me, that is not honourable.
“I saw people who did not know what government is.
“I blame all of us, not anyone in particular.
“But he who has the opportunity to do the right thing but fails to do so should be blamed.”
Bello however said there is the need to improve the local government area structures, adding that there is a huge gap between the people and the government.
“We need the local governments to be active so that it will reduce the influx of Nigerlites to the state capital (Minna), thereby reducing pressure on the government.”
Bello had on Thursday won the Niger State APC gubernatorial primaries with 3,829 votes, leaving Senator Ibrahim Musa with 61 votes and Salihu Mohammed Alooma scoring 24 votes.
Congratulations This is the begining of your success insha allahu ya allah amin.
